Privacy Policy and Cookies

At Sea Angling Shop we record customers’ details (postal addresses, email, phone numbers) to deliver the products we sell and contact customers regarding the orders they have placed. We need to pass on some of these details to other companies (i.e. we pass on your address to Royal Mail/courier companies so they can deliver products to you). Customer data is used solely for this purpose and is never passed on or sold to other companies/third parties (apart from when we are required to under UK law) or used for advertising/marketing purposes by ourselves or any other third party.

We retain the data customers input into our website for 180 days (so that returns/refunds can be processed and queries about orders can be dealt with). After this period all customer data is securely deleted from our website. Anonymised data regarding the sums spent by customers on our products is retained for seven years as this is a legal requirement to comply with HMRC and UK tax regulations. No data relating to customer names, addresses or other personal information is retained for any longer than the 180 day period. In the highly unlikely event of a data breach Sea Angling Shop promises to inform all affected customers as soon as possible via email.

Sea Angling Shop uses PayPal to process payments made by our customers. The site is secured with an SSL certificate to comply with PCI (Payment Card Industry) security standards and legislation. No credit or debit card data is retained on our site. Payments made via PayPal accounts are processed by that company via their website.

If you would like to request the data which Sea Angling Shop has regarding you or request your data be deleted before the 180 day period please email contact@seaanglingshop.co.uk. We are also happy to answer any other questions or queries customers have regarding their data.

Sea Angling Shop only retains and records customer data to fulfil customer orders and contact customers with relevant information about the products they have ordered from us. Sea Angling Shop is committed to fully complying with all UK/EU data protection legislation including the GDPR regulations which came into force in May 2018. For more information on GDPR visit their information portal here. The website of the Information Commissioner’s Office which oversees UK data protection and electronic communication regulations can also be viewed here.
